Athel began taking photography seriously in 2010 at the age of 16. Born into a family of artists, singers, and other creatives, Athel’s future in the creative field was all but guaranteed. His grandfather Desie Roberts opened his photographic business, Roberts Studio, in 1973. Athel would always visit, fascinated by photography and cameras. With over 46 years of experience photographing people including Hilary Clinton, Andrew Young, Barack Obama and more, Athel’s grandfather was the perfect conduit to Athel choosing to do photography as a full-time career in adulthood.
Athel enjoys creating the dramatic portraiture that evokes emotions, from the extravagant and complex editorial to the simple and clean portrait shot. He loves experimenting and trying new and unique techniques in his work, evident in the conceptual portraits in his portfolio. With the ability to adapt to any given situation in the field, he has made it his mission to paint a narrative with every image he creates.
Athel has worked with many clients, both in a B2B and a B2C environment, and all have been highly satisfied with his work.
