A FAMILY LEGACY WOVEN IN FABRIC

When the family matriarch, Annapurna Surapaneni set out to provide for her family, she sold the majority of her gold jewelry. The money earned was used to support her children abroad in their professional and familial lives. What she kept were a few sarees that were eventually passed down into safekeeping by her four daughters. This collection has expanded into a wide variety of saris, salwars, and lenghas.

With over 200 sarees in the family collection, with one estimated to be almost one hundred years old, an online repository and gallery showcasing this incredible legacy in silk, georgette, chiffon, and cotton is vital for their family’s legacy. This current generation along with future progeny deserve to have a complete catalogue of traditional garments used in over 1,000 ceremonies and rituals spanning nearly a century within the Surapaneni family.
